Today’s organizations clearly understand the benefits of implementing rationalization initiatives to cut costs and optimize the utilization of increasingly complex application portfolios.  Unfortunately and despite its importance, some of these initiatives end up as “paper exercises”, where the applications marked for retirement are later found still running.

Organizations can address these issues and better manage their application lifecycle management (ALM) and governance processes.  In this report we introduce the basic building blocks of an inclusive and sustainable ALM strategy, including the retirement process.
