May 06, 2013
From the Financial Reporting View and the IFRS Institute

The April 2013, Issue 11 of KPMG ISG's IFRS Newsletter: Financial Instruments -- The Future of IFRS Financial Instruments Accounting summarizes the IASB's discussions and tentative decisions at its April 2013 meeting about its project on financial instruments (IAS 39, Financial Instruments: Recognition and Measurement, replacement), including tentative decisions that:

  • The general hedge accounting model for IFRS 9, Financial Instruments, will be optional until the IASB completes the macro hedging project;
  • The due process about general hedge accounting is complete, and the IASB will proceed to issue the final hedging standard; and
  • The new offsetting disclosures that will be required by the amendments to IFRS 7, Financial Instruments: Disclosures, are not required for condensed interim financial reports.
