In the Headlines 14-20 summarizes the IASB Discussion Paper, Reporting the Financial Effects of Rate Regulation, which discusses one type of rate regulation, defined rate regulation, and seeks to:

  • Identify which information about the financial effects of rate regulation is most relevant to users;
  • Confirm whether the description of defined rate regulation appropriately identifies the type of rate regulation that has the most significant effect on the amount, timing, and certainty of revenue, profit, and cash flows; and
  • Provide the IASB with insight about the advantages and disadvantages of possible financial reporting approaches, and whether it should consider other approaches.

The comment period ends January 15, 2015.
