KPMG's 11th annual edition of the Global Semiconductor Outlook , entitled Seismic shifts underway, reveals executive expectations about revenue and profitability, geographic growth, M&A activity, product sectors, technology evolution, and other factors influencing the global semiconductor industry in 2016 and over the next three years.
The report’s key revelation is that various forces are converging that may drastically alter the face of the industry, from numerous mergers and acquisitions to new geographic centers of influence to uncertainty in the technology roadmap.
In addition, the publication reveals through KPMG’s proprietary Semiconductor Industry Confidence Index that executive confidence for 2016 is the lowest since 2011. Leaders have reduced projections for revenue growth and expect flat or decreased investments in capital equipment, research and development, and workforce expansion.
