From the Government Institute

On August 11, 2015, the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) Administration for Children and Families (ACF) published a Notice of Proposed Rule Making (NPRM) for Comprehensive Child Welfare Information Systems (CCWIS).

Through this NPRM, ACF is seeking input from state and local health and human services child welfare agencies and others regarding new federal requirements for next-generation child welfare information systems.

KPMG has prepared this issue brief to stimulate early thinking by state and local child welfare agencies about the implications of the new regulations. Leveraging KPMG’s deep knowledge and experience in the health and human services sector, and the child welfare sector specifically, to achieve greater program efficiency and effectiveness, this issue brief presents an overview of the proposed rule and discusses potential opportunities and next steps.
