Everyone knows that the cost of care in the United States is unsustainable. Yet, to date, system-wide strategies on how to fix it are proving difficult to implement. But all is not lost: across the country, we have seen encouraging signs of innovation and investment from some of the more progressive players in the system.

But at KPMG, we believe that the best way to move the conversation forward is by sharing our collective experiences, best practices and pilot projects so that – together – we can start to shape the future model of care and create a more valuable and sustainable system.

This report sheds light on the experiences and insights of one of the country’s most innovative healthcare providers – Hackensack University Medical Center – as it strives to formulate a position in the new system.
