The upcoming Texas tax amnesty program will run from May 1, 2018 through June 29, 2018. Only liabilities that have not been previously reported to the Comptroller for periods prior to January 1, 2018 can be satisfied during the amnesty program. Qualifying taxpayers may receive an abatement of penalties and interest. The program does not apply to periods currently under audit or for which the taxpayer has received an audit notice. Taxes paid under the International Fuel Tax Agreement, Public Utility Gross Receipts assessments, Local Motor Vehicle taxes, and Unclaimed Property payments are also not eligible to be satisfied during the amnesty program. Texas’ last amnesty program was held in 2012. Please stay tuned to TWIST for future amnesty information.
